Student Handbook Introduction

The purpose of Student Accessibility Services is to provide assistance to students with varying degrees and types of disabilities in order to maximize their academic potential, and to minimize various physical and attitudinal barriers. Since 1964, Student Accessibility Services has assisted thousands of students in their pursuit of higher education at Kent State University. Kent is committed to continually improving access to all aspects of university life, both architecturally and programmatically. We are proud of our reputation as one of the most accessible universities in Ohio.

This handbook has been created to assist in answering common questions regarding the services available to students with disabilities at Kent State University, and to detail the various procedures necessary to obtain them. It is our hope that the information provided is comprehensive and addresses your needs. Should you have a special concern that is not covered in this publication, please feel free to contact a staff member at Student Accessibility Services during office hours for further assistance.
